Abstract
Tumor thrombus occasionally extends into the inferior vena cava (IVC) in patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC). In recent years, the optimal management in non-metastatic renal cell carcinoma with IVC tumor thrombosis is the radical nephrectomy and complete thrombectomy. We report 2 cases of RCC with IVC tumor thrombosis. One patient underwent the thrombectomy without cardiopulmonary bypass and the reconstruction of the IVC with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) patch. The other patient, the thrombectomy was performed under the cardiopulmonary bypass and deep hypothermic circulatory arrest due to the extention of thrombi around the hepatic vein. They were successfully recovered after the surgical treatment without any postoperative complications.
